Simulation of peak tension loads in Subsea power cables during installation

Abstract At present, most of the insurance claims in offshore wind industry are due to cable failures where a large percentage occurs during installation array and export cables. As reliability cables depends on location method, it is important map risks involved, which can compromise cable’s integrity individual projects. This paper presents sensitivity analyses conducted crucial parameters laying process, with an objective successful subsea power without any damages cable. The focus peak tension loads reference key as self-weight geometry, well deployment position vessel. Finite element were both static forces dynamic for irregular vessel motions, by aid well-tested software OrcaFlex.
